The cultural, or ritual, significance of the Monster Mash

Not much is known about the Plastic People (who rose to dominance sometime after “the Dinosuars”), but they seemed to be obsessed with culture. We know they repeated lyrical poems (ad naseum, at times) as the backdrop for some type of yearly rituals.

One poem, of which only fragments have been recovered, seems to recount the tale of a man having his work interrupted (I was working in the …lab? Lap?…one night, when I heard…) by noise. He comes to find that his previous IP, the Transylvania Twist, has been co-opted (possibly “remixed”) by the next generation, and is now used in their rituals.

That is where the fragments end and it is unclear if the man is a single person, representative of multiple people, or simply a vehicle to celebrate the inevitability of being eclipsed in their culture
