What We Do Now

Learning about the world in the 1980s - 1990s, I’ve been witness to the world’s decline.
When I was in my teens, textbooks warned us of coming troubles. They mentioned the massive amounts of baby boomers who would be retiring at the same time, they mentioned melting ice and rising tides. The books had diagrams showing belts of underwater currents traveling the globe, with warnings like “disturb these and we’re all fucked!” and “Somebody should do something!”
We did a lot of things. We did everything we could to change the tiny world around us. We started recycling efforts in our schools and neighborhoods, we collected money and food for those in need, we shut down the fur coat stores, we saved the dolphins and we fixed the hole in the ozone layer. We fought locally, but we thought globally!
Most importantly, we got duped. We got tricked. We worked hard and it hasn’t paid off.
What we do now is take with us the things that worked (love, empathy, equality) and we move forward. We have our own discussion about the things we value and how every single one of us can partake equally.
Those things are not material.
We need to destroy the people and systems that propel us into thinking wealth is the goal.
Do this locally and globally
